Devil Kite
“Devil Kites” are void fauna that grow to enormous size to take advantage of solar energy. Their gigantic, nearly 2-dimensional bodies are highly evolved and multifarious. They can soak up and photosynthesize sunlight as well as ride the solar winds with surprising swiftness. Their large surface area also makes them ideal for picking up radio broadcast signals, which is how intraspecies communication is achieved. To deter predators from attacking such obvious targets, the Devil Kite’s skin is covered with layers of cells capable of discharging collected solar energy as high-voltage electrical bursts. These discharge attacks are strong enough to cripple even stray ships that wander too close.
